In 2005 she made the transition to Terwillegar Veterinary Clinic and became part owner of the clinic in November of 2008. Working with animals over her career has been, and continues to be, a labour of love and she wouldn't want it any other way.

Dr. Alison Hammel

BSc, DVM

Dr. Hammel, born in Edmonton, graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2017. She went on to study veterinary medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, graduating in 2021. Dr. Hammel’s family has been bringing their pets to TVC since she was very young. When she was in grade 1, she already knew that one day she would become a veterinarian and work at TVC. She currently shares her home with three pets—Freddy, a 7-year-old Beagle Lab cross, Tina, an 8-year-old cat, and her newest addition, Henry, a 10 month old Golden Retriever. When not working, she spends her time hiking, downhill skiing, cycling, and spending time outdoors with her dogs.

Dr. Natalia Mackowiak

Dr. Mackowiak graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences in 2016. She went on to study veterinary medicine at the University of Glasgow, graduating in 2021. She joined our team as a part-time veterinarian in June 2022. Most days, she brings her one year old Golden Retriever, Finn, to work with her. He spends his day getting an excellent workout playing non-stop in the office with Dr. Hammel's Golden Retriever, Henry. When not working, Dr. Mackowiak enjoys running, hiking, downhill skiing, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

Dr. Jenny Puttick

She completed a rotating small animal internship at Michigan State University in 2012. Since graduating, she has worked as an emergency veterinarian at Guardian Veterinary Centre until recently, when she joined our team. She shares her home with three animals – Annie Ice cream, Wally Waffle cone and her most recent addition, Zoey. When not at work, she enjoys walking, adventure racing, and “mom stuff”. She also enjoys baking, including killer sour dour bread.

Mallory Neumann

Registered Veterinary Technician

Mallory graduated from NAIT’s Animal Health Technologist program in 2011. She got her start in the animal world as veterinary clinic volunteer. She went on to work as a marine animal care attendant and held various veterinary clinic positions, including animal care assistant, kennel attendant and reception staff. She is looking into further training in animal behaviour, as this is an area of great interest to her. Outside of work, Mallory enjoys spending time outdoors, whether its at the beach, sitting on a patio, hiking, taking a long walk, camping, or surfing. In winter, she gets away to the mountains to snowboard, but she really hates the cold.
Mallory has always lived with dogs and is planning to adopt another one in the near future.

Susanna Wong

Registered Veterinary Technician

Susanna graduated from NAIT as a Registered Veterinary Technologist in 2022. We were fortunate that she agreed to join our team upon completing the practical portion of her program with us in June of that year. In addition to her many talents in the workplace, Susanna is also a talented illustrator. When not working, she enjoys her art, expanding her computer knowledge, playing video games, reading, and spending time with her older female cat, Shimmer.

Courtney Greene

VMA, Registered Veterinary Technician

Courtney spent most of her life in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She moved to Edmonton in 2017 to enroll in the Veterinary Medical Assistant Program at NAIT. She completed her practicum at TVC after which she was happy to accept a full-time position. She graduated with her RVT diploma in December of 2023. Courtney has had many pets, including dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, mice and fish. She currently lives with an older orange tabby cat, Katie, and a yellow lab, Sweet Dee. When not at work, she loves to play soccer, travel, run, camp and attend live music shows.

Kelsey Holden

VMA, Reception

Kelsey attended Reeves College, graduating with her Veterinary Healthcare Assistant diploma in 2021. Although born and raised in Edmonton, her heart lies in Newfoundland, where her family resides. She currently shares her home with her cat, Wednesday, aka Wheezy. When not working, she enjoys snowboarding, longboarding, road trips, hiking and spending time by the river.

Faith Schutz

VMA, Reception

Faith grew up on a farm in Stony Plain where she was surrounded by cats, dogs, cows, horses, sheep, chickens, and a llama. She has always loved and felt very close with animals. Faith graduated from NAIT with a Veterinary Medical Assistant (VMA) Diploma in May 2022. She currently lives with an orange tabby cat, Doobie, and a Golden Retriever named Ruby. Outside of work, her favorite pass times are camping, time with family and friends, travel and spending time outdoors.

Courtney Walters

VMA, Reception

Courtney was born in Burin, Newfoundland and moved with her family to Edmonton when she was just under two years old. She studied at NAIT graduating with her Veterinary Medical Assistant (VMA) diploma in 2014. She has an 8-year-old Bengal cat, named Marbles, who has brown rosettes and bright green eyes. She also has a 2-year-old son who is her entire world and keeps her on her toes—there is never a dull moment! When not working or running after her son, she enjoys baking—from cookies, tarts and cupcakes to pies and birthday cakes.

Keara Cooke

Assistant

Keara has lived in Edmonton since 2014 when she moved with her family from London, Ontario. She graduated from Louis St. Laurent High School in 2022 and has been volunteering and now working at TVC since October of 2021. She currently shares her home with Alfie the Bernedoodle, but dreams of a second dog (hopefully soon!). When not working, she most enjoys hikes with her dog and anything to do with the outdoors. Her dream is to one day own a farm to rescue as many animals as possible, hopefully including a few cows, horses and goats.

Hannah Riegger, BA

Assistant

Hannah, born in Edmonton, graduated from Grant MacEwan in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She is currently working on her Bachelor of Science in Animal Health at the University of Alberta and is set to graduate in 2026. From there, she hopes to study veterinary medicine. Hannah currently shares her home with two cats, Malcolm and Mouse, two fish (Monte and Timothy), a snake (Cornelius), and a gecko (Evie). She has a special place in her heart for skunks, after working with them (including bottle feeding babies!) during an internship that she completed with Wild North. When not working, she enjoys writing, aerial dance, board games and volunteering at animal shelters.
